KEY FINDINGS
80% of the registered domains that resembled global 2000 brands (homoglyphs) are owned by third parties
45% of companies that use enterprise-class registrars also use registry lock
5% of companies have a domain security score of zero
Use of DMARC has grown by 82% since 2020
DOMAIN SECURITY RISK LEVELS
72% of all companies have less than half of the security measures implemented, and 112 companies have a domain security score of 0%. A 0% score indicates no adoption of any security measure, leaving them at highest risk of domain security threats.
INCREASE IN PHISHING ATTACKS FUEL THE GROWTH IN THE ADOPTION OF DMARC
Phishing attacks growing by more than 150% per year has helped increase the adoption of domain-based message authentication, reporting, and conformance (DMARC)—an email validation system designed to protect a company’s email domain from being used for spoofing and phishing scams. Adoption of DMARC has grown 28% over the past three years.
